Artie Januario was a pharmacist because his father was a pharmacist. Artie is a comedian because one day – at age 44 – he went to an open mic night. And the rest is history.
Making New England (and the whole country) laugh since 2000, Artie draws on nearly five decades in healthcare for material. He has starred in Denis Leary’s Comics Come Home show for a sold-out crowd of 10,000 people and at a show alongside Jay Leno. Artie routinely performs with tailored materials at healthcare, medical and pharmaceutical conferences and events.
Based in the Boston suburbs full time after splitting time in Provincetown for the last several years, Artie has performed across the country, at venues in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Boston, New York, D.C., Baltimore and beyond. His home club is Giggles in Saugus, Massachusetts where he works with similarly hilarious comedians including Lenny Clarke, Tony V, Steven Wright, and Steve Sweeney. He’s worked with national headliners Brian Regan, Dane Cook, Joe List and Boston’s own Bill Burr.
In his brief meeting with George Carlin, Arite was told by George, “Never let them change your name. Januario! It flows so romantically.” So, if your name is Rumpelstiltskin or something weird like that, don’t change it: because George would have probably liked it.
