The Genius of Marian is a feature length documentary that explores the heartbreak of Alzheimer’s disease, the power of art and the meaning of family. The film follows Pam White in the early stages of Alzheimer’s as her son, the filmmaker, documents her struggle to hang on to a sense of self.

Banker White is an interdisciplinary artist, award-winning filmmaker, and the Executive Director of Mirabel Pictures. From war and disease to the complex dimensions that surround aging and death, his work is unified by a compassionate humanism.

His projects have been supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Sundance Documentary Fund, Creative Capital, MacArthur Foundation, the Tribeca Film Institute, Impact Partners, ITVS, DocSociety, the Catapult Film Fund, The Fledgling Fund, LEF, the California Council for the Humanities, Center for Cultural Innovation, the Creative Work Fund, the Pacific Pioneer Fund, and the Headlands Center for the Arts.

Banker also co-founded the WeOwnTV Freetown Media Center, a collaborative media project in Sierra Leone, which has been supported by Creative Capital, The Bertha Foundation, Jonathan Logan Family Foundation, Freedom to Create, and BAVC. Banker lives and works in West Tisbury MA, with his wife and creative partner Anna Fitch and their two children.
