Violet Du Feng is an Emmy® Award-winning independent documentarian, a 2025 Guggenheim Fellow, and a 2024 Chicken and Egg Awardee. She is known for creating nuanced, intimate, and thought-provoking films that explore larger social issues. Over the past decade, she has directed, produced, and executive produced more than fifteen films. Her directing credits include THE DATING GAME, which premiered at Sundance 2025 in World Cinema Documentary Competition and won the Best International Director at Doc Edge Film Festival; HIDDEN LETTERS, an Oscar®-shortlisted, Emmy® and Peabody nominated film that debuted at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival in documentary competition. HIDDEN LETTERS went on to win eleven festival awards and was broadcast in 15 countries. Violet is a member of the Documentary Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and serves as an adjunct professor at Columbia University’s Journalism School.
