With co-director Sarah Colt in person!
Fly With Me tells the story of the pioneering young women who became flight attendants at a time when single women were unable to order a drink, eat alone in a restaurant, own a credit card or get a prescription for birth control. Becoming a “stewardess,” as they were called, offered unheard-of opportunities for travel, glamour, adventure and independence. Although often maligned as feminist sellouts, these women were on the frontlines of the battle to assert gender equality and transform the workplace. Featuring firsthand accounts, personal stories and a rich archival record, the film tells the lively and important but neglected history of the women who changed the world while flying it.

Since founding Sarah Colt Productions in 2008, Sarah Colt has primarily directed, written and produced for PBS’ award-winning history series, American Experience – including the Emmy-nominated Walt Disney, The Gilded Age, Henry Ford, The Polio Crusade, and, most recently, Fly With Me, which tells the surprising history of female flight attendants and their crucial role in fighting for workplace equity and was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Historical Documentary. The Disrupted, Sarah Colt’s first independent feature documentary and premiered in 2020, is an emotionally rich observational drama about three middle class Americans and their urgent efforts to overcome financial circumstances beyond their control. Sarah has earned several awards for her work including an Emmy and a Peabody nomination.
