On Opening Night of the Festival, enjoy meeting fellow festival attendees and special guests inside a tented reception, from 5:30-7:30 PM, on the beautiful waterfront lawn adjacent to Lagoon Pond, just off Beach Road at the Tisbury Marketplace.
We’ll be serving wines, beer (Festival sponsor OUR MARKET) and appetizers (provided by Sarah Hibler) while Eric Johnson and his jazz trio perform under the tent. After the reception, guests will be invited to make their way to the Film Center for a special OPENING NIGHT screening (see below). The film begins at 8:00 pm.
OPENING NIGHT — Your ticket is good for both the OPENING NIGHT reception and the OPENING NIGHT FILM.
There will be no tickets sold for Opening Night film separately.
OPENING NIGHT FILM starts at 8:00 PM
The last female beehunter in Europe must save the bees and return the natural balance in Honeyland, when a family of nomadic beekeepers invade her land and threaten her livelihood. This film is an exploration of an observational Indigenous visual narrative that deeply impacts our behavior towards natural resources and the human condition.
“This elegant film… begins as the intimate portrait of a beekeeper who makes famously good honey, and then expands to become something of a parable.” – NPR
“This amazing doc, a multiple prize-winner at Sundance 2019, makes for the most primal of environmental allegories.” – Toronto Star
