Richard C.Skidmore is an Aquinnah resident and award-winning experimental filmmaker whose videos and films have been seen around the world on television and at more than 20 film festivals, including The TriBeCa Film Fest in Manhattan.

He will present two half-hour works and 20 minutes (interspersed throughout) of his briefs (shorts)— including the National Public Access Award winning GRAVITY RACE, shot in Aquinnah in 2005.

As Keeper, with Joan LeLacheur, of Gay Head Light, he has recorded some of the new discoveries about the building that will change your perception of that venerable and endangered landmark.

First to be premiered is THE VOICE, a documentary on “that rascal” Johnny Seaview, a sorely missed “island character” whose pithy and profane views on all and sundry will amuse and enlighten those unfortunates who never encountered him, and re-amuse those who did.

Followed by L I F E, a visual meditation on that thing we’re all so FULL of…  (life). Stunning imagery and oblique insights will take you on one man’s colorful journey through the humorous and stark realities we navigate together.

The short film section will include:

GAY HEAD LIGHT 2014 REVELATIONS, about new discoveries at Gay Head Light as preparations begin for the 2015 move.

Followed by Oak Bluffs’ now retired street sweeper, HERBERT LANDERS  who is profiled at work on Circuit Avenue.

Next will be a short documentary about Aquinnah’s amazing 2005 GRAVITY RACE.

And REAL BEAR, disgruntled, has a few things to say, “I try not to fume.”
