Chasing the Thunder is a high-seas documentary about the Sea Shepherd’s epic 110-day, 10,000-mile chase of the “Thunder,” considered the world’s most notorious poaching vessel. Across two seas and three oceans, the marine activists hunted the fugitive fishing ship through massive ice floes, storms-tossed seas, a near collision and violent clashes until the Thunder dramatically sank, burying the evidence of its crimes on the bottom of the South Atlantic.
The Martha’s Vineyard Fishermen’s Preservation Trust and Sail MV are organizing a panel discussion made up of local commercial fishermen to comment on the film and local issues.
Martha’s Vineyard Fishermen’s Preservation Trust
The Martha’s Vineyard Fishermen’s Preservation Trust is a Massachusetts 501(c)(3) non-profit established to: (i) Preserve the historic fishing fleets, communities, and economies of Martha’s Vineyard; (ii) Protect the marine populations and fishing grounds off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard and New England; (iii) Educate the community about its local fisheries. We work to support the island’s small-boat, family fishermen, and their sustainably harvested catch.
Sail MV
