The Sandlot tells the story of a new kid in town who is taken under the wing of a young baseball prodigy and his team. Together, they get themselves into many adventures involving rival teams, lifeguards, and a vicious dog.

Come see one of the greatest baseball movies ever made in the way it is meant to be seen–on a baseball field!

The Martha’s Vineyard Film Society and the MV Sharks have collaborated to bring this once in a lifetime opportunity to Islanders. To make the event even better, both organizations have decided to give all proceeds from the event to the MV Sharks Charitable Foundation, which awards both MVRHS High School Athletes and MV Sharks players college scholarships so they can continue to play the game they love at a higher level. Tickets will be sold at a suggested donation price of $10/family of four and $5/individual. Separate donations will also be accepted at the event.

“If you have ever been lucky enough to see “A Christmas Story,” you will understand what I mean when I say “The Sandlot” is a summertime version of the same vision […] These days too many children’s movies are infected by the virus of Winning, as if kids are nothing more than underage pro athletes, and the values of Vince Lombardi prevail: It’s not how you play the game, but whether you win or lose. This is a movie that breaks with that tradition, that allows its kids to be kids, that shows them in the insular world of imagination and dreaming that children create entirely apart from adult domains and values.”–Roger Ebert
