A festival selection committee whittled 450+ entries down to 10 finalists. We will screen each finalist short film on Friday, September 5th and our jury will choose Best Over-all Short at the conclusion of the program.

Our jury participants are: Diana Barrett, The Fledgling Fund;  Tim Miller – Cape Cod TImes, Matthew VanDyke (Not Anymore: Story of Revolution) and Patrick Harrison of Academy of Motion Picture Arts (NYC).

DOOR GOD – On Chinese New Year, a little girl learns reality is not what it seems as she discovers how betrayal can be done out of love.

GODKA CIRKA (aka A HOLE IN THE SKY) – Young Alifa looks up at the somali sky. She thinks about her daily life as a shepherdess. She knows that the day that will change her life forever is about to come.

NORMAN & CORY – Based on a webcomic that started 10 years ago, and characters that are 15 years old, Norm & Cory is an animated short encapsulating what a show based on it would be like.

SMASHED OUT – In an allegory universe, a family’s house has been seized due to debts. They continue living without trying to find a solution, until all of a sudden the new owner arrives at the house. He offers them the temporary solution of living in the house all together, until they move out. It is a secretly degraded situation and everything is ready to be smashed out.

SO YOU’VE GROWN ATTACHED – An off-beat comedy about Ex, an imaginary friend, who is forced to consider retirement when his creator, Izzy, starts to grow up.

THE CHICKEN – As a present for her 6th birthday, Selma gets a live chicken. When she realises the animal is going to be killed to feed the family, she decides to save it and set it free, unaware of the high stakes such action will lead to.
