The world is divided into two types of people…those who whistle, and those who have tried.

Pucker Up takes a look at the little-known world of championship caliber whistling. The movie offers a wealth of footage from the International Whistling Convention and Competition, giving a history of whistling as well as profiling six competitors in the 2004 Annual Whistler’s Convention, held in Louisburg, North Carolina.

We hear them whistle, and they and others talk about whistling as a way to relax, cheer up, entertain, express emotion, and enjoy life. Each talks about how others see their hobby. Joe is older, competing after a ten years break. Chris uses interesting sounds to spice up his performances. Graham stays with the melody, as does Sandra. Steve is smooth, a multi-year champion. Geert is new, having come with his wife from the Netherlands for the competition. First the prelims, then the finals. Clips from films illustrate the qualities of whistling.

Special guest filmmaker and Island resident Kate Davis will be in attendance with live musical performance by Three Time World Champion whistler and film subject Geert Chatrou afterwards.  Great for every whistler at heart.

"They say it's hard to be in a bad mood and whistle; it's also hard to be in a bad mood watching a movie about whistling."

--Cherryl Dawson

"...The filmmakers do a fine job of sprinkling in [whistling] snapshots and other bits of history."

--Janice Page
